Angie Ridgwell joined Lancashire County Council as Interim Chief Executive and Director of Resources in January 2018, later deciding to apply for the permanent job - she was named permanent CEO in October that year.

Prior to that, she was Director General for Finance and Corporate Services at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

She has also worked for various public sector bodies and local authorities, including Bristol City, Coventry City, Bridgnorth District, and Thurrock councils, principally as Chief Executive or Director of Finance. Angie has experience in consultancy, including as an associate with KPMG, where she acted as Executive Director at the London Development Agency and interim CFO at North-East Lincolnshire Council.

In the later stages of her career, Angie has focused on transformation situations, most recently overseeing the merger of two Government Departments to form BEIS and supporting Bristol City Council as it adapted to leadership under the new democratically elected mayor.

"The intellectual capacity, experience, and influence held by Whitehall is one of the UK's greatest assets. But in a world of unprecedented shifts, we need to learn lessons from recent crises and focus on whole-system thinking in Whitehall. This is the only way to deliver policies that are contextually aware, work across the UK, and drive sustainable growth for the benefit of all."
