James Sweetland
Senior ResearcherI work on our Reimagining Whitehall workstream here at Reform, thinking about how we can change how the civil service operates to deliver more effective public services. I'm also Reform's resident policing and criminal justice nerd.
Prior to joining Reform, I worked as an analyst in the policing sector, leading a landmark review of all 43 Police and Crime Plans produced across England and Wales. Before that, I worked for Demos, delivering policy reports on topics including the corporate tax system, the UK-US response to cybercrime, and post-pandemic inequality.
My favourite Reformer is...
Barbara Castle, for bringing in the Equal Pay Act, breathalyser tests to tackle drunk-driving, and mandatory seatbelts.
What gets you out of the bed in the morning?
My legs.
