Boosting economic growth is rightly a leading priority for the Government. Without a dynamic economy, public services cannot be funded, living standards will stagnate and Britain’s influence will wane.
Being ambitious about growth means seeing the State as a positive partner to business. Whitehall has a fundamental role to play in establishing Britain as the best place to invest and do business: from government’s approach to regulation and taxation, to its investment in skills and digital adoption, decisions taken in Whitehall have a direct impact on decisions taken in the private sector. And tackling the biggest challenges facing Britain – from achieving Net Zero to maximising the health and wealth of an ageing population – will require huge investment in innovation. Public policy decisions matter, and it is vital that they help, not hinder, our competitiveness.
We are delighted that Andrew Griffith MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury, will be joining us to set out his thinking on how the State can be a positive partner to business.
This is a private, invite-only event.
