Andrew Jones MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport

The transformative role of technology in creating a modern transport system

The Government’s ambition to transform the transport system through technology is one of the most exciting parts of its domestic policy agenda. The Secretary of State has spoken about the potential of autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles to improve travel safety. Arguably the greatest potential of all, however, lies in rail. Progress towards a digital railway would allow a much more efficient use of the existing network, while greatly improving the passenger experience

Reform was delighted to host this roundtable, led by Andrew Jones MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport, Department for Transport to discuss the transformative potential that technology can play in creating a modern transport system, with a particular focus on rail.

Dr. Luke Heselwood, Senior Researcher at Reform, also addressed this issue in a blog, which you can read here.

The roundtable was held under the Chatham House Rule.
