Now in its 11th year, The State of the State 2022-23, in partnership with Deloitte, explores the key issues facing the UK Government and public services. This year’s report finds the public sector undeniably challenged. In the wake of Covid, public services remain under immense pressure, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has brought stark geopolitical and domestic challenges, including energy and cost-of-living crises. Both family budgets and the public finances are under huge strain.
These challenges are serious, but there is cause for optimism. Interviews with public sector leaders found them more passionate and animated than ever this year, with an impatience for reform as they look beyond these difficult times. Investment-led growth will be key to alleviating pressures and rebalancing the economy, as well as strengthening our public services.
Chaired by Charlotte Pickles, Director, Reform and hosted by Jayson Hadley, Partner, Deloitte. Speakers include Sapana Agrawal, Director, Modernisation and Reform, Cabinet Office, Charlotte Ivers, Political Correspondent, Times Radio, and Ed Roddis, Director of Public Sector Research, Deloitte to explore the vision for the future of government and public services in the UK.
