While repairing the public finances will require government to take difficult tax and spending decisions, it is clear that funding high-quality public services, and delivering prosperity for all, relies on driving growth. Central to this is the role of business: in promoting innovation, bringing jobs and opportunity to local areas, and ultimately helping to improve living standards across the country.
Yet months of economic instability, and sluggish, long-term productivity growth, has left workers feeling disaffected, and many businesses uncertain about the future. To restore trust, and become as internationally competitive as possible, a coherent, long-term vision for the economy is required.
Reform is delighted to host this roundtable, led by Jonathan Reynolds MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Industrial Strategy.
