Planning for growth: a long-term vision for UK plc

Reform is delighted to be hosting a private roundtable event at Conservative Party Conference in partnership with KPMG.

To compete in the global economy, fund public services, and spread prosperity, the UK must be an attractive place to do business. That means building an environment in which businesses want to invest and create good jobs, entrepreneurs are incentivised to innovate, and key sectors are confident in making the UK their long-term home. While none of this can be achieved by government alone, the State has a fundamental role to play in creating the conditions for economic success.

From financial regulation to tax to public sector R&D, government must set a clear, competitive and long-term trajectory that provides certainty for investors. It must also work with industry to ensure that spending on skills and infrastructure is targeted to meet current and future needs. And the State must be a positive partner for business, clearly signalling its priorities, backed up by sustainable and consistent action.

Reform is delighted that Andrew Griffith MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury, will be leading this Conservative Party conference roundtable.

This roundtable will be held under the Chatham House rule and is kindly supported by KPMG.
