A Major Speech by The Rt Hon Damian Hinds MP, Secretary of State for Education

Reform was delighted to host a major speech with the Rt Hon Damian Hinds MP, Secretary of State for Education.

Rt Hon Damian Hinds MP was appointed Secretary of State for Education in January 2018. He previously served on the Education Select Committee and chaired the Social Mobility All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG).

Just under a year ago, Damian Hinds set out the seven key truths on social mobility that he developed as chair of the APPG, welcomed the new chair of the Social Mobility Commission and set out his plans to continue closing the attainment gap by tackling the 'last taboo' of education - the home learning environment.

This latest speech offered new perspectives on the relationship between disadvantage and educational attainment, and demonstrated the Government’s commitment to boosting educational attainment for the people and places left behind.
