Liz Kendall MP, Shadow Minister for Social Care

Independence, choice, control: Labour's vision for social care

England's adult social care system is under immense pressure —  an ageing population and increasing rates of disability amongst the working age mean that demand for care has grown significantly. Vacancies for care workers are running at record highs and staff turnover rates exceed 30 percent annually. Tragically, it is estimated that more than 1.5 million people in England have unmet care needs. Given the short- and long-term challenges facing the sector transforming social care is a key challenge to reforming our health and care system.

Reform are delighted to host this roundtable, led by Liz Kendall MP, Shadow Minister for Social Care, to discuss her thinking on how our social care can be transformed to enable independence, choice and control for users and to ensure value for money for taxpayers.

This private roundtable will be held under the Chatham House rule.
