The future of school reform: getting long-term funding right

In the UK school system, constrained public finances and ongoing workforce challenges mean there are significant barriers to closing the attainment gap and helping all students reach their potential. Schools also need to contend with the quickening pace of technological advances, impacting what young people need in order to succeed, and the consequences of Brexit for the sector, which are still unknown.

Getting long-term schools funding right is crucial to enable schools to tackle the myriad of challenges they currently face. The 2019 Spending Review is a good opportunity for policy-makers to grapple with this issue.

This event brought together 20 attendees, including policy-makers, practitioners, academics, and employers from across the education sector.

The event was held under the Chatham House Rule.
