Ensuring the success of the Life Sciences Industrial Strategy

The Life Sciences Industrial Strategy is vital in ensuring the success of the UK’s life sciences sector. This means finding solutions to develop the ‘eco-system’ further, such as improving access to data, increasing the spend on Research and Development (R&D) to 2.4 per cent of GDP by 2027 and investing in skills. Life sciences are a major part of the current economic base of the UK, with the sector generating £64 billion of turnover, and employing more than 233,000 scientists and staff. It is also the biggest single sector investing in R&D.

Reform is delighted to host this roundtable, led by Nadhim Zahawi MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Business and Industry), Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, to explore the actions that government and the sector must take to retain the UK’s world-leading role in life sciences through skills, regulation and infrastructure.

The roundtable will be held under the Chatham House Rule.

This event is supported by The Association for the British Pharmaceutical Industry.
