Reform is delighted to be hosting a private panel event at the Labour Party Conference in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.

In the aftermath of the pandemic, the UK’s cancer care outcomes continue to fall behind comparable countries. Wait times are climbing – fewer than 3% of NHS trusts met access targets last year – diagnoses have been delayed or missed, and an overwhelmed workforce is struggling to keep up. With significant pressures right now, and the prediction that more than 500,000 people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer each year by 2040, it is vital that building world-class cancer care is a priority.

Delivering world-class care means ensuring early diagnosis, enabling the uptake of innovative treatments, boosting capacity through partnership working across sectors, and investing in ground-breaking research Additionally, it will require further investment and a strategic approach to cancer workforce development – training new clinicians, upskilling existing staff, and investing in technology.

Reform is delighted to hold this panel with Wes Streeting MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care; Marcella Turner, Founder and CEO of Can-Survive UK; and Gemma Peters, CEO of Macmillan Cancer Support to discuss building a world class cancer care.

This event is kindly sponsored by Macmillan Cancer Support.
