Building productivity and reform: the example of the Department for Education

Reform was delighted to welcome Jonathan Slater, Permanent Secretary, Department for Education who led a roundtable event discussing ‘Building productivity and reform: the example of the Department for Education.’

Many large public sector organisations have great opportunities to improve their productivity and ways of working, in terms of their people, estates and use of technology – often described as “the way we work” (TW3) agenda. In Reform’s view the Department for Education is one of leading organisations that has given great attention to the task of achieving greater productivity. This event will consider the Department’s approach and learn lessons for other major organisations. It will also consider how the Department’s wider objectives can support the Government’s efforts to enhance the productivity of the whole economy and will be held under the Chatham House Rule.

This event was held in partnership with BT, as part of a programme with Reform generating new ideas on building better public services:
