A double dividend: levelling up the economy, delivering net zero

Reform is delighted to be hosting a private roundtable event at Conservative Party Conference in partnership with PwC on levelling up the economy and delivering net zero.

In 2019, the Conservative Government was elected on a platform to ‘level up’ the country whilst delivering net zero. While these policy agendas often work in tandem, there are immense opportunities to align them, delivering broad and inclusive growth in a high-skill, green economy.

The Government has already made headway. The Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution and Levelling Up White Paper commit to investing in skills and infrastructure to bring green jobs to left behind areas. But more can be done to ensure that the net zero agenda delivers for people across the country. From incentivising private sector green investment, to retraining and upskilling the workforce to meet the labour market challenges of a low carbon economy, opportunities exist to ensure that the transition to net zero delivers shared prosperity across the UK.

This roundtable will explore how the Government can harness the opportunity of transitioning to net zero while levelling up the economy.

This roundtable will be held under the Chatham House rule.
